Production Engineer

Sumitomo Bakelite Europe (Ghent) NV is a market leader in the sector of thermoset molding compounds & composites for the mobility sector.

🏭 Active within two business units of the Group of Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd.; the Ghent factory produces thermoset molding compounds based on phenolic (SBHPP High Performance Materials dept., Vyncolit® brand name) and epoxy (Information & Technology Materials dept., Sumikon® brand name).

🧪 The Automotive Solutions Center, established at the same site as the Ghent factory, provides customers with application development & prototyping support.

Sumitomo Bakelite Europe (Ghent) NV, located in Ghent, Belgium, is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd. (HQ in Tokyo, Japan) and sister company of two further European production sites within the High Performance Materials dept.: Sumitomo Bakelite Europe NV (located in Genk, Belgium) & Sumitomo Bakelite Europe (Barcelona), S.L.U. (located in Barcelona, Spain).

As Production Engineer, you will report to the Production Manager.

Tasks

• You analyze and optimize production processes with the goal of increasing safety and efficiency. You do this by initiating and coordinating new processes and automations.
• In addition, you are responsible for both the implementation of these projects and for drafting the corresponding working methods and instructions for the respective production and maintenance departments.
• You are able to work independently on these (improvement) projects and you can manage a (project) team. For this you cooperate intensively with all disciplines within the production organization.

• You have a master's degree in industrial sciences with experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
• You are flexible, accurate and stress resistant
• You are fluent in Dutch and English.
• You like to roll up your sleeves yourself if necessary and are naturally looking for ways to do things better
• You work fluently with MS Office, ERP system
• You are safety-conscious
• You are analytical and results-oriented
• You have coaching skills and are communicatively strong
